I awoke this morning when my aunt called at 7:40 to tell me that my 82 year old grandfather was being taken to the hospital because his oxygen levels were low and he was dizzy. He has cancer and now COPD, and he's been acting strange lately - not strange, persay, just odd for him. This is not unexpected; we've actually been pushing him to go to an assisted living facility because he's been alone for a year since my grandmother died and he has become quite frail of late and a tad confused from time to time, but he is a stubborn old goat and refused to go. Today a cleaning lady came to clean his cottage and he told her he was too tired and he felt dizzy, so she called the People who work at his retirement community, and they came, checked him out, and made the decision to take him to the hospital.
I nursed Nemo, called my inlaws to come help take care of the bigs, called my uncle to coordinate who was going and how quickly we could get there (we both have power of attorney and authority to make medical decisions for my grandfather; I'm the closest geographically), and then called the hospital, which is 2 miles from my grandfather's cottage - he still wasn't even there yet.
My car is still under 3 inches of ice. BigDaddyFish and Trout are trying to dig it out now.
Little Man peed his bed.
Nemo had a diaper blowout. Better here than at the hospital, I guess.
It's going to be a long day. Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers.
I love that stubborn old goat.
UGH! What a way to start the day...
Sending all of the prayers & ((hugs)) that you need today & the days that follow. Sounds like tough times, no matter what the outcome (which I am hoping is assisted living so you can rest easy & enjoy the old goat longer)!! :)
