Trout was kind enough to share the sickness that got her on Saturday night, and we've all been felled by it. It's been kinda weird - usually I get stir crazy being cooped up in the house with the kids, but the thing is, I've felt so bad myself, that I haven't minded. For the most part the kids lay (laid? I've found confusing reports) around the house watching movies and napping or listening to me read to them, and they haven't had much appetite, so really the most strenuous thing I've been doing is to push them a bit to drink and eat what they could. Which is good, because I've felt off. Not quite sick, just tired and achy, but the fatigue level has been such that I'd empty half the dishwasher, then have to sit down and rest, then do the next half, then sit down and rest, and so on. I had enough energy to bake yesterday, but the corn muffins were from a mix, and the cookies I could sit to do, and I still haven't done the dishes from them. This time, I'm really appreciating what a privilege it is to be able to stay home and nurse my family and myself back to health. I'm sure this would drag on a whole lot longer if I didn't have that option.
Trout went back to school today, and after a lot of rigamarole, she will be making up the GT testing on Monday morning. I am going to pay for us missing the testing royally; she has to go to the downcounty field office for the testing, easily an hour or more drive in traffic, and I'll have to sit around for 2.5 hours while she does her testing, or find something to do with myself. It's too much to hope that the testing center is a hotspot.
New post up at DC Metro Moms about our sick snow days.
So! No more whining. Go look at Jodi's Shoe Friday post. She's featured my socks already, so I'll post this new pair of fuzzy socks here:
I recently discovered Sock Dreams, and I have had to restrain myself to keep from buying 40 pairs of fuzzy socks. I only bought four. This is my favorite, though. They make me happy enough that I almost can't think about the storm they're calling for next week.
Almost.
Thanks for the link! Glad things are looking up.
