Some of you know I used to own a rubber stamping business, where I sold stamps and supplies and taught rubber stamping classes. As a result, we have enough stamps and card stock and papers and embellishments for me to open my own store. This year, my kids made all their own valentines for their classes, with only minimal help from me (you know, running the paper cutter and stamping images for Sunny). And the results, I think, are not just impressive, but amusing.
Here are Sunny's valentines. Keep in mind that she's not quite 5 years old. She came up with the designs for these all by herself.
I think these are better than the first things I created, and I was 29 years old at the time.
Trout took a different approach, coming up with more clever designs and sayings, and at first, I tried to get her to change them, to be more conformist, then I smacked myself, and let her roll. Here are her results:
On the backs of most of them, she simply wrote Happy Vallentine's (sic) Day and left it at that. But for some, she got more creative:
"Dear Cassie, You love Dragons, and they love you, but you Both like hearts."
"Dear Alyssa, You are always nice, Sweet to, you like me, and I like you."
And my personal favorite, for the tallest boy in her class:
I only made her change one, this one:
The design is clever, but she had written, "Dear [child in my class], You know you really annoy me, but for today, I'll let you go." It took me two days to convince her that his feelings would be hurt if she gave that to him. And maybe they wouldn't, but it doesn't hurt to reinforce the old ifyoucan'tsayanythingnicedon'tsayanythingatall rule.
Happy Valentine's Day, everyone. May you have as non-commercial a day as possible, with everyone that you love.
Those are awesome! I pulled out all my stamping stuff for the girls, too. They had lots of fun.

Remind me to teach you how to use close-up mode on your camera. :-)

I especially like the "heart attack" one. Thanks for sharing these.
We generally see the "say something nice" variety on Remarkable Tributes, but are waiting for someone to create a "roast" tribute book.

I love them all - VERY CUTE! My kids always enjoy making theirs too, but this year Kaden (who I view as VERY creative) opted to buy *gasp* his valentines :(

OMG - I love that sentiment! Honesty! Now I now who to call - I have lots of those rubber stamp thingies that I bought from a very creative neighbor who used to sell them and then tell me what to do with them. And then she moved and I have no idea what to do with these things!
