Whew! I think a bunch of stuff happened, right? Like it's a new month? So a few bullets will have to get us caught back up.
- We have babies! Well, baby fish, that is. We have a goldfish in our tank of platties, so that goldfish generally eats all the baby fish, and we really don't mind because we aren't in the business of breeding fish anymore. But a couple of weeks ago I was talking to Sunny and noticed baby fish swimming around in the filter - the mother must have dropped her babies close to the filter intake and they got sucked up. Because I have a huge mouth and can't keep my exclamations of surprise to myself, Sunny made me deal with them because Baby Fish! Are the Best! So, I dumped them out of the filter, and now have a bowl on my counter with 6 baby fish in it. We had 8, but a couple didn't make it, the shock of moving them was too much. We'll put them back in the tank when they get big enough to be able to escape the jaws of the goldfish.
- We went hiking at Sugarloaf mountain two weekends ago. Sugarloaf is teeny, really, not really even a hill compared to anything that exists out west, but it's close by, its terrain is interesting, and the kids loved it. I'll post a bunch of pictures over on my facebook page sometime soon.
- Trout was not accepted for our county gifted and talented program. We are deeply disappointed and are appealing the decision. That is all I can say for now.
- We had surprise houseguests last weekend. Friends of ours who live a bit of a ways away (in the next county) are selling their house and had several showings last Saturday, so they came to see us, necessitating a cleaning blitz on my part to make the house habitable. I was still vacuuming the couch out when they arrived. Thank goodness they come to see US and not our house, but it's still embarrassing.
- In that vein, I've been trying to stay more on top of the housework around here, plus recover from moving all the furniture in our kitchen to get the locking cabinet. It's still not put together, but I'm working on it. Hence my lack of attendance in this here space. I've been unplugged.
There's other stuff, too, but I can't remember and kinda feel like my brains are scrambled and I need a nap. I need to post more often and not find it taxing until I can get my kitchen back together, so I'm putting this out there - ask me some questions. Tell me what you want to know about life with 4 kids under 10 in the DC burbs. Otherwise my next post will be a treatise on laundry, and you don't want that. Trust me.
