Most of you know that my grandmother died of breast cancer back in 2006. What I may or may not have mentioned is that she participated in a number of clinical trials into breast cancer treatment, and she donated her body to science for research once she died. It was important to her that she do everything she could to ensure that my sister, my daughters, my cousins, my aunts, my friends, and I didn't have to go through all she went through, and she believed even the smallest of efforts was important.
To that end, and in keeping with my 11 things to do before I turn 40, I will be walking in the Global Race for the Cure on June 5 in Washington DC. I don't like huge crowds and so am terrified, but I'm not going to let a little fear get in the way of this. If you'd like to walk with me (I'd love to have you!), or if you'd like to support my modest fundraising efforts, you can go to my participant page here.
Now, off to walk/run/gallumph two or three miles so I don't embarrass myself in a hair over a month.
