So, last week sometime, I may have turned forty. But who's counting. My grandfather used to say that at 50 he started counting backwards, but my cousin Becky says I get to start counting backwards earlier, so I'm only 30.
Forty's okay. I had a great birthday where I got plenty of time to myself, extra sleep, and I introduced my kids to the wonder that is The Muppet Show on DVD. They like the Swedish Chef, but I've always been partial to Dr. Bunsen Honeydew and Beaker, myself.
My wonderful babysitter made me a brownie cake all to myself. Then on Saturday, BigDaddyFish took me out to my favorite mexican/salvadoran restaurant for costillos and margaritas and he told me he would take latin dance lessons with me. I have no idea who this person is or what he did with my husband. But I intend to call his bluff. The last time I thought he was bluffing about something we ended up getting married, so we'll see how this turns out. The fun thing through all these birthday festivities is that I didn't gain a pound.
So, in case you don't know me in real life or follow me on Facebook, I've been following a strict food plan and exercising since the end of April, and I've lost a little weight (what little free time I've had I've been using to work out, not blog, hence the crickets chirping around here). Thanks to the fact that I'm 4'10" tall, it looks like a lot of weight, which is nice, except for where the weight came off first - I've gone down both a band AND a cup size. I knew I was losing a bunch of inches, too, because my clothes weren't fitting, but nowhere was it so noticeable as when I put on a bathing suit I bought before I got pregnant with Nemo but only wore one time because I didn't like how my abdominal region looked; it's now my regular suit.
Yesterday I got sick of the fact that my underwear keeps falling down under my clothes and went shopping. I learned that I might as well have been running around braless for the last couple of months for all the good these things are doing me. I bought a bunch of stuff, including pants/shorts in a size I haven't seen since two kids ago - that's six years, people.
So, yeah, forty? So far hasn't really made me want to count backwards.
Happy B-day!

You have such a baby face, nobody will believe you are forty for many years to come! Congrats on the weight loss - hoping some inspiration rubs off on me!
